A short history
Guccio Gucci opened a small leather shop in Florence in 1921. He had worked as a porter at the Savoy hotel in London, and came back to Italy wanting to make bags as good as the ones he had carried for rich guests. His first customers were horse riders, and that is where two famous Gucci designs come from: the Horsebit, shaped like a horse's bit, and the Web stripe, the green-and-red band taken from a saddle girth. The interlocking GG stands for his initials. You will find all three on Gucci sunglasses today.
If you searched for Gucci goggles or Gucci shades, you are in the right place. In India both words mean sunglasses. More on that below.
Gucci sunglasses price in India
Gucci sunglasses price in India starts at around ₹19,000 here and goes up to about ₹57,000. Most frames fall between ₹26,000 and ₹33,000. Gucci fixes its prices across authorised sellers, so big discounts are rare. What moves a frame up the range is the material and the metalwork, not the lens.
Other websites give very different numbers for Gucci sunglasses price India — ₹18,000 to ₹35,000 on one, ₹20,000 to ₹60,000 on another. The bands below are what you can actually expect to pay, and what each one buys.
| Price band | What you get |
|---|---|
| ₹19,000–₹25,000 | The entry point. Simpler metal frames and lighter acetate, smaller lens sizes, quieter branding. |
| ₹26,000–₹30,000 | The widest choice, and where most buyers land. Full acetate squares, rectangles and cat-eye shapes, plus metal pilots. |
| ₹31,000–₹34,000 | Bigger frames, heavier acetate, more detailed metalwork on the arms. |
| ₹35,000 and above | The top of the range — statement shapes and the most complex builds. |
How to choose Gucci sunglasses
Pick the shape first, then the lens, then check the size numbers printed inside the arm. Angular shapes like square and rectangle suit rounder faces. Softer shapes like round, oval and pilot suit a strong jawline. The three numbers inside the arm are lens width, bridge width and arm length in millimetres — match them against a pair you already own.
The shapes Gucci makes
The range covers square and rectangle, cat-eye, oval, round, pilot and wider geometric shapes. Most frames are acetate — the thick plastic that holds deep colour through the material itself — with metal and combination frames alongside.
Square, rectangle and cat-eye make up the largest part of the range, so angular shapes dominate. That is good news if your face is round. If your face is already square or strong-jawed, look at the oval and pilot frames instead.
By face shape
| Face shape | What works | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Round | Square, rectangular, navigator | Straight brow lines and defined corners give the face structure it does not already have. |
| Square | Round, oval, aviator | Curves soften a strong jaw and a wide forehead instead of echoing them. |
| Oval | Most shapes, including oversized and mask | Balanced proportions carry almost anything; oversized frames are the easiest way to make a statement. |
| Heart | Cat-eye, round, lighter rimless | Width at the top is already there — shapes that carry weight low balance a narrower chin. |
| Oblong | Oversized, deeper lenses, decorated temples | Depth across the lens visually shortens a longer face; detail at the temple adds width. |
Lenses
Every real pair blocks 100% UV. That is standard at this price, not a special feature — if a seller charges extra for it, be careful.
Polarised lenses are different. They cut glare from water, glass and wet roads, so they are worth it if you drive a lot. Gucci offers polarised on some models only, so check the one you want.
Gradient lenses are dark on top and lighter at the bottom. Handy if you want to check your phone without taking the glasses off.
Getting the size right
Look inside the arm for three numbers, like 56–18–145. They are lens width, bridge width and arm length, in millimetres. These decide whether a frame fits — not the shape name.
Easiest way: take a pair you already wear comfortably, find the numbers inside, and buy within 1–2mm of them.
Sunglasses with power
Most Gucci frames can take prescription lenses. Very curved or wraparound frames sometimes cannot. ⚠️ Check with Chashmish for the model you want before ordering.
How Gucci compares with other luxury eyewear
Gucci costs more than fashion brands like Tommy Hilfiger or Calvin Klein, and sits alongside Montblanc and Tom Ford. The difference is that Gucci is made to be noticed — colour, visible logos, decorated arms. Its rivals are plainer. On price, Gucci sits about three times above the mass fashion brands and level with Montblanc.
| House | Typical Indian band | Design signature | Suits the buyer who |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gucci | ₹19,300–₹57,000 | GG logo, Web stripe, Horsebit; colour and decoration | wants the brand to be noticed |
| Tom Ford | ₹25,000–₹55,000 | T-shaped hinge, thick frames, mostly black and brown | wants something darker and plainer |
| Montblanc | ₹23,300–₹39,400 | Thin metal frames, no big logos | wants quiet luxury |
| Ray-Ban | ₹6,000–₹20,000 | Aviator and Wayfarer shapes, small logo | wants a classic shape at a lower price |
Simple version: if you want people to recognise the brand, Gucci does that best. If you want something quieter or cheaper, we also stock Ray-Ban and Carrera.
What comes with an original Gucci pair
Every Gucci frame carries the same markings. The model number, colour code and size are printed inside one arm; the Gucci name, "Made in Italy" and a CE mark inside the other. Gucci uses model codes rather than serial numbers.
It is worth knowing where these are — partly to confirm what you have, and partly because the model code is how you find the same frame again later.
What to look for
- Inside one arm: the model number, colour code and size — for example GG1890S 001 56-18-145.
- Inside the other arm: the Gucci name, Made in Italy and the CE mark. Gucci eyewear is made in Italy by Kering Eyewear — not Luxottica, which many people get wrong.
- The GG logo and any metal parts: fitted into the frame, not printed on the surface.
- Nose pads, where the frame has them, carry the Gucci mark.
- In the box: a branded hard case, a cleaning cloth and Gucci's own papers. The codes on the box match the codes inside the arm.
- Gucci Tag: Gucci's own tool — it reads a photo of the product and checks it against their records.
Gucci goggles, shades or sunglasses — is there a difference?
No difference. In India, "goggles" and "shades" both mean sunglasses. Gucci does not make a separate goggles range. A search for Gucci goggles price shows the same frames as Gucci sunglasses price. Outside India the word means ski or swimming goggles, which is why some searches bring up sports gear instead of eyewear.
Outside India the word means something else — sealed, strapped eyewear for skiing or swimming. That is why a search sometimes shows sports gear. Gucci does not make those.
So whether you searched Gucci sunglasses India, Gucci shades price in India or original Gucci sunglasses price in India, the answer is the same 35 frames at the same prices above.

Gucci sunglasses FAQs
What is the price of Gucci sunglasses in India?
At Chashmish they cost roughly ₹16,500 to ₹57,000, with most frames between ₹24,000 and ₹33,000. Gucci fixes its prices across authorised sellers, so big discounts are rare. ⚠️ Check the current price before buying.
How can I tell if Gucci sunglasses are original?
Look inside both arms. One has the Gucci name, "Made in Italy" and a CE mark. The other has the model number, colour code and size — for example GG1890S 001 56-18-145. Gucci uses model codes, not serial numbers. Search that code online and you will find the same frame.
What is the difference between Gucci goggles and Gucci sunglasses?
There is none. In India, "goggles" just means sunglasses. Gucci does not make a separate goggles range. Searching Gucci goggles price in India brings up the same frames and the same shops. Outside India the word means ski or swimming goggles, which is why some searches show sports gear.
Are Gucci sunglasses polarised?
Some models are, some are not. It depends on the model, so check the one you want. Every real pair has 100% UV protection. Polarised lenses cut glare from water, glass and wet roads, which helps if you drive a lot.
Who makes Gucci sunglasses?
Gucci eyewear is made in Italy by Kering Eyewear, part of Gucci's parent company. Many people think Luxottica makes them — it does not. Real frames say "Made in Italy" with a CE mark inside the right arm.
Why are Gucci sunglasses so expensive?
The cost is in the frame, not the lens. The plastic Gucci uses is cut from solid blocks and polished for days, instead of being machine-moulded in minutes. Metal parts are fitted by hand. The Horsebit, Web stripe and GG logo are real metal pieces, not printed on. Italian manufacturing and Indian import duty add the rest.
Are Gucci frames unisex?
Many are. Gucci labels frames as men's, women's or unisex, but plenty of the square, rectangle and pilot shapes in medium sizes are worn by both. The numbers inside the arm tell you more about fit than the label does.
Can Gucci frames be made with power?
Most Gucci frames can take prescription lenses. Very curved or wraparound shapes sometimes cannot. ⚠️ Check with Chashmish for the frame and prescription you want before ordering.
Where can I buy original Gucci sunglasses in India?
Buy from a seller that shows the model code and includes the Gucci case and papers. When it arrives, check that the codes on the box match the codes inside the arm. Chashmish sells Gucci sunglasses online and at its Ahmedabad shops.
What size Gucci sunglasses should I buy?
Use the three numbers inside the arm — lens width, bridge width and arm length in millimetres, like 56–18–145. Take a pair you already wear comfortably, read its numbers, and stay within 1–2mm. The right shape in the wrong size still looks wrong, and that is the most common regret when buying online.
