A short history

Gucci began in Florence in 1921. Before that, Guccio Gucci worked as a porter at the Savoy hotel in London, watching how rich guests travelled. Back home he opened a small leather shop. Riding customers inspired two marks that are still on Gucci frames today: the Horsebit and the green-red-green Web stripe. The interlocking GG stands for his initials. Since 2017, Gucci eyewear has been designed and distributed by Kering Eyewear, after Safilo's licence ended in 2016.

₹26,500–₹31,500 Newer acetate styles with metal logo details, larger rectangles, metal cat-eyes and the low-bridge "OA" fit.
₹31,500–₹35,500 Metal round and oval frames, thick premium acetate and bold statement shapes.

What lenses add

The price on Gucci frames is for the frame only. On the product page you pick single vision, progressive or bifocal, zero-power blue-cut, or frame only. The lens price then shows as its own line, so you see the full cost before you pay. Higher powers and progressives cost more than a basic single-vision lens. Not sure which you need? Book a fitting and our optician will help.

Why Gucci glasses cost more

You pay for the brand's design, the materials and the finish. That means thick acetate or fine metal, sturdy hinges, and logo details such as the GG, the Horsebit or the Web stripe set into the arm. Vision quality comes from the lens, not the frame, so plan your budget for both.

How to choose Gucci eyeglass frames

Start with shape, then material, then size. Square and rectangle Gucci frames suit round and oval faces, while cat-eye and oval styles soften a square face. Pick acetate for a bolder look or metal for a lighter one. Then match the three size numbers inside the arm to a pair that already fits you.

Acetate, plastic or metal

Acetate Gucci spectacle frames are thicker, come in rich colours such as havana, and hide thick lenses well. Injected plastic frames look similar but weigh less. Metal frames are thinner, with adjustable nose pads, which many people find more comfortable over a long day. Read more on our materials page.

Reading the model code and size

Inside one arm you will find the model code, a colour code and three numbers. In GG0278O 001, the letter O at the end means an optical frame (S means sunglasses) and 001 is the colour. The letter A after the O, as in GG2146OA, marks a low-bridge "Asian fit" version. The three numbers, written like 53□18-145, are lens width, bridge width and arm length in millimetres. Compare them with the glasses you wear now. Stay within 1–2 mm on lens and bridge, and the new pair will fit the same way.

If frames slip down your nose

Many Indian faces have a lower nose bridge, so heavy acetate can slide down. Two fixes help. Choose an OA low-bridge fit, or a metal frame with nose pads that we can adjust. Either way, we heat and re-set the arms to your face when you collect.

By face shape

Round faces look sharper in square and rectangle Gucci eye frames. Square faces suit oval, round and cat-eye styles. Oval faces can wear almost any shape. Our face shape guide has more detail.

Gucci glasses for men and women

The Gucci glasses men wear most are square and rectangle frames in black, havana or grey acetate, with some slim metal rectangles. Women's Gucci frames add cat-eye, butterfly and oval shapes, often in pink, see-through or tortoise colours. Many styles are unisex, so choose by size and shape rather than the label.

Gucci frames for men

The Gucci frames men choose for work are usually a black or havana square in acetate. Look for the small GG or Web stripe on the arm if you want the brand to show. A lens width of 53–56 mm suits most adult men. Men who want lighter Gucci glasses can pick a metal rectangle. Wider faces should check the arm length as well as the lens width.

Gucci frames for women

Women's Gucci specs usually run a little smaller, around 50–54 mm. Cat-eye and butterfly shapes lift the face, and see-through or pink acetate looks softer than solid black. A narrower bridge, or an OA fit, stops the frame sliding down.

Best Gucci specs for your needs

A quick way to narrow the Gucci spectacles in the grid above. Each pick is a frame type, with one example from the current range.

  • Everyday office wear: a square in acetate. For example the Gucci GG0278ON.
  • Lighter on the face: a slim rectangle in injected plastic. For example the Gucci GG2108O.
  • A low nose bridge: an OA low-bridge fit. For example the Gucci GG2146OA.
  • Metal and minimal: a thin metal rectangle. For example the Gucci GG1221O.
  • Women's cat-eye: for example the Gucci GG1424O.
  • A statement shape: an oversized butterfly. For example the Gucci GG2042O.
  • A vintage round look: a round metal frame. For example the Gucci GG1855O.

Lenses for Gucci spectacle frames

Every Gucci spectacle frame here can take prescription lenses, so it works as Gucci power glasses. Choose single vision for one power, progressive or bifocal for distance and reading together, or zero-power blue-cut for screen work. Lenses come from ZEISS, Essilor, Rodenstock, Nova and other brands, fitted online or in our Ahmedabad studios.

  • High power: pick full-rim acetate Gucci eyewear frames and a thinner high-index lens. The thick rim hides the lens edge.
  • Progressives: they need enough lens depth from top to bottom, so avoid very narrow frames. An optician should take your fitting height.
  • Screen work: zero-power blue-cut lenses turn any pair of Gucci specs into screen glasses.

See every option in our lenses range, or read the prescription guide before you enter your power. Lenses are cut to your power alone, so they cannot be returned on a change of mind. If they arrive wrong or faulty, that is covered in full.

What comes with an original Gucci frame

Original Gucci spectacles have the model code, colour code and size printed inside one arm, with "Made in Italy" or, on some models, "Made in Japan", and a CE mark. The Gucci name or GG logo sits on the front or arm. It comes in a Gucci case with a cleaning cloth.

Worth knowing

  • The model code is your reference. Note it down when you buy Gucci spectacles, and keep the box. It is how you find the same frame, or a spare part, later.
  • Who makes them. Kering Eyewear, based in Padua, Italy, has designed and distributed Gucci eyewear since 2017. Kering Eyewear also has its own office in New Delhi.
  • Made in Japan is normal. Most Gucci frames are made in Italy, but some models are made in Japan. Both are genuine.
  • Your invoice. Keep it. The manufacturer's warranty runs from the date on it.

Gucci frames — frequently asked questions

What is the price of Gucci spectacles in India?

Gucci spectacles cost about ₹15,000 to ₹40,000 in India, depending on the model and the retailer. At Chashmish, Gucci frames cost about ₹16,500 to ₹35,500 for the frame, and most sit between ₹22,000 and ₹30,000. Prescription lenses are added separately, based on lens type and your power.

Does the Gucci glasses price include lenses?

No. The Gucci glasses price shown is for the frame. When you choose a lens type on the product page, the lens price is added as a separate line, so you see the full cost before paying. You can also buy the frame only and fit lenses later.

Why are Gucci glasses expensive?

Gucci glasses cost more because of design, materials and finish. Most frames use thick acetate or fine metal, sturdy hinges and metal logo details such as the GG or the Web stripe. You pay for the brand too. Your eyesight depends on the lens, so budget for good lenses as well.

Who makes Gucci eyewear?

Kering Eyewear, the eyewear company of Gucci's parent group Kering. It is based in Padua, Italy, and has designed and distributed Gucci eyewear since 2017, after Safilo's licence ended in 2016. Most frames are made in Italy and some in Japan.

Can I get Gucci power glasses?

Yes. Every Gucci optical frame takes prescription lenses, including single vision, progressive, bifocal and blue-cut. For high power, choose a full-rim acetate frame and a thinner high-index lens. Progressives need a frame with enough lens depth, and our optician can check this before you order.

Which Gucci frames are best for men?

The Gucci glasses men pick most often are square or rectangle Gucci spectacles in black or havana acetate, usually 53–56 mm wide. For a lighter feel, pick a thin metal rectangle with nose pads. If frames slip on your nose, look for an OA low-bridge fit.

What do O and OA mean in a Gucci model number?

In Gucci model numbers, O marks an optical frame made for prescription lenses, and S marks sunglasses. OA is a low-bridge "Asian fit" version that sits higher on a lower nose bridge. The three numbers after the colour code are lens width, bridge and arm length in millimetres.

Do Gucci frames have a warranty?

Yes. Gucci frames carry the manufacturer's warranty against manufacturing defects. It does not cover accidental damage or normal wear. Keep your invoice, and bring the frame to a Chashmish studio for free adjustments for as long as you own it.

Is Gucci a luxury brand?

Yes. Gucci is an Italian luxury fashion house, founded in Florence in 1921 and now owned by the French group Kering. Its eyewear sits at the top of the Indian market, above designer labels such as Tommy Hilfiger or Calvin Klein.

Can I try Gucci frames before buying?

Yes. Visit a Chashmish studio in Naranpura, Bopal or Shela in Ahmedabad to try Gucci specs and have your fit checked. If you buy online, you can exchange an unused frame for store credit within 7 days.
